Exposing your plunge or chiller to below freezing temperatures, even for a short period of time, can cause ice to form in the chiller, hoses, or tub and significantly damage your plunge. While some models of our chillers have the capability to heat the water during freezing temperatures, you take the risk that a power failure or inadvertent setting could cause the chiller to stop heating and allow ice to form. We recommend winterizing your plunge instead of using the heat function to guarantee a damage free experience during sub-freezing temperatures.
Winterize the tub
- Connect a hose to the black drain valve on the tub and open the valve.
- Ensure all water drains from the tub, including any water inside the pipes in the tub.
- Open the inlet and outlet valves and ensure no water remains in the internal or external hoses.
- Leave the drain, inlet, and outlet valves open.
- Secure cover and ensure water/rain doesn't enter the tub.
Winterize the chiller
- Turn the chiller off and unplug it from power.
- Disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses.
- Unscrew the drain plug on the chiller which is below the water inlet port.
- Remove the disposable filter and ensure no water remains in the filter compartment.
- Store the chiller indoors to further reduce the risk of freeze damage.
